Cinnamon Cherry Compote with Ginger and Clove
Warms meridians, activates blood, resolves stasis, penetrates deeply into the collateral vessels

Ingrediënten
- 500g fresh or frozen cherries (pitted)
- 3 cm fresh ginger (sliced thinly)
- 4 cloves
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 1 star anise (optional)
- 2 tbsp coconut blossom sugar or honey
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 1 tsp black peppercorns (freshly ground)
- 250 ml water
- Optional: 1 tbsp arrowroot powder (for thickening)
Bereiding
- Combine cherries, water, ginger, cloves, cinnamon sticks and star anise in a pot.
- Bring to a boil over medium heat. Reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes.
- Add coconut blossom sugar, apple cider vinegar and black pepper. Stir gently.
- Simmer for another 5 minutes until cherries are soft and liquid has slightly reduced.
- Optional: mix arrowroot powder with 2 tbsp cold water and stir into compote for thicker texture.
- Remove cinnamon sticks, cloves and star anise before serving.
- Serve warm as dessert, over yogurt, oatmeal or as topping on warm rice pudding.
Gebruiksadvies
Eat as dessert or snack, 2-3 times per week. Serve warm or lukewarm. Preferably in the evening or before menstruation for optimal effect on the uterus and liver meridian.
Contra-indicaties
Not for use with acute bleeding, excessive heat with dry throat and thirst, diabetes (sugar in cherries), or acute infections with fever. Caution with heartburn.
