Ginger Turmeric Golden Milk with Cinnamon and Honey

Ingrediënten

  • 500 ml plant-based milk (almond, oat or coconut)
  • 2 tbsp turmeric powder (fresh grated is better)
  • 4 cm fresh ginger (grated)
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 tsp black peppercorns (freshly ground)
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil (for curcumin absorption)
  • 2 tbsp raw honey (to taste)
  • Optional: 1 star anise
  • Optional: pinch of cardamom

Bereiding

  1. Heat the plant-based milk in a pan over low to medium heat. Do not let it boil.
  2. Add turmeric, ginger, cinnamon sticks, black pepper, coconut oil and optional spices.
  3. Whisk with a whisk to prevent lumps. Simmer gently over low heat for 5-10 minutes.
  4. Strain the milk through a fine sieve into a cup or pitcher.
  5. Stir in the honey until dissolved.
  6. Serve immediately hot. Whisk again if sediment forms.

Gebruiksadvies

Drink 1 cup before bedtime or in the morning on an empty stomach. Serve hot but not boiling. Preferably drink in the evening to support sleep and nourish kidney-yang. Can be drunk 3-4 times per week.

Contra-indicaties

Not for use with acute heat with fever, gallstones, estrogenic cancers (in large amounts), pregnancy (large amounts of turmeric), or iron deficiency anemia (turmeric inhibits iron absorption). Caution with blood thinners.
