Shiitake Yam Restorative Soup

Strengthens Lung Qi, builds resistance, nourishes Spleen

Ingrediënten

  • 100g Chinese yam (shan yao, fresh or dried)
  • 50g dried shiitake mushrooms
  • 50g carrot (cubed)
  • 2 slices fresh ginger
  • 1 liter water
  • Optional: salt to taste

Bereiding

  1. Soak shiitake mushrooms in warm water for 20 minutes. Reserve soaking water.
  2. Peel Chinese yam and cut into cubes (or soak dried yam).
  3. Cut carrot into small cubes.
  4. Cut ginger into thin slices.
  5. Put shiitake soaking water in pot, add water to make 1 liter.
  6. Bring water to a boil. Add shiitake, yam, carrot and ginger.
  7. Simmer gently for 30-40 minutes until yam is soft.
  8. Optional: add salt to taste.
  9. Serve warm.

Gebruiksadvies

Eat as light meal or before meals, 3-4 times per week. Serve warm.

Contra-indicaties

Not for use with acute fever, clear Heat symptoms (yellow throat, yellow phlegm, fever), or severe Yin deficiency with dryness.
